What Is Wicca?
This is kinda a hard one to sum up in a few words....but I think one of the better explinations I have heard came from a book that I own called the "Wicca Source Book". It is as follows:
"Wicca, which is an Old English word meaning "wise", is a positive, Earth-oriented, nature religion with ancient roots that are pre-Christian. It gloriously celebrates the life force, encourages spiritual growth, and includes seasonal rites to attune oneself to the beauty, magick, and love of Mother Nature and Goddess Earth."
Unlike most "New Age Religions" Wicca is not a passing fad. It has survived for hundreds of years..and is still going strong. It is even reconised By the U.S. Goverment in the Armed Forces as being a legitimate religion.
There are many diffrent branches of Wicca..not all are the same. The path you choose may be diffrent from the next person who chooses wicca. It is a very personal thing.
The basic rules are the same...
"Eight words the Wiccan Rede fulfill; An' it harm none, do what ye will."
In translation:
All people have a right to choose their own path, as long as their choices harm no one.
And also what you do comes back to you in threefold. So....if you do good....good will be returned to you three times..Same with evil.
