Imagery
This is the method of healing using one's mind. This is a well known and wide used therapy in modern medicine today.
The simple way of looking at this is Imagery is the way the brain communticates to the body. For example:
Imagine your favorite meal. Imagine the smell, the way it feels in your mouth, the way it looks, the way it tastes.
Is your mouth watering? More then likely, yes.
This is just a simple exercise to make you see how simple this can be!
This is not a new concept. For example: The Navajo Indians practise an elaborite form on imagery that teaches a person to "visualise" themselves as healthy.
I use this form of healing while doing meditation. It helps when you are relaxed. I'll use an event that I had to deal wtih a few months back.
My lovely daughter decided to push an old antique mirror out into the walkway from my kitchen to my living room. Not really paying attention I walked out of the kitchen. With a full stride I kicked the mirror and broke 3 toes, and damaged my foot in the process.
This hurt.
Having two toddlers that love to step on toes didn't help matters any.
I would, while meditating, imagine my broken toes. I would imagine the broken bones knitting themselves together, and hurting less as they become more solid.
After a few days of focusing on this..my toes no longer hurt. They were still broken, but I was not in pain.
Tests have been done on this subject to see if it really does help. The blood flow increases to the area that a person is imagining about, and has shown to heal quicker.
It's amazing what your mind can do.
