Ayurveda
This is a 5,000 year old Approach to physical health, mental clarity, and spiritual fulfillment. The principles of this were found first in the Vedas, or the religious texts of Hinduism.
One of the Basic ideas to this is that the energy of life expresses itself through three doshas called Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Every person has these three doshas in them, but usually one is more dominant then the others.
This is a quick description of what the three doshas are:
VATA:
This dosha is associated with the air and elements of space. The person who is Vata dominant is usually quick witted, creative, active and alert. They can be quite soft-hearted and romantic. They are seldom good with handling money. To look at them they tend to be thin, with curly hair, and dry skin. They thrive in warm costal climates.
PITTA:
This dosha combines the elements of fire and water. The person who is pitta dominant tends to be firey, stubborn, passionate, ambitious, and often successful. To look at them they tend to have red hair and freckles. Rarely are blondes pitta, but dark haired people can be pitta also. They tend to be medium build, and normal skin. New England tends to be perfect for pittas due to the constant and defined change in climates.
KAPHA:
This dosha is connected to water and earth. The person who is kapha dominant tends to be sensuous, strong, calm, soft-spoken, forgiving, wise, tolerent, and very loyal. To look at them they tend to be overweight, lots of dark hair (either wavy or curly), oily complexions, and large soulful eyes. They do well with money, and tend to thirve the best in moderate climates.
A person is a combination of these..
(If anyone is curious I am Kapha-Vata)
